"Catching Up With Corey Haim"
1989 16 MAG: Hi, Corey! How are you? COREY: To be honest, I'm a little sick today. I have a sore throat. 16 MAG: Would you rather do this interview another day? COREY: No, it's fine. I really want to say hello to everyone, so let's go, okay? 16 MAG: Okay! Are you still living in your own apartment? COREY: Not anymore. I moved back upstairs with my mom. 16 MAG: Does your sister Carrie live with you too? COREY: No, she's in Toronto, goin' to school, I think. I mean I'm pretty sure. 16 MAG: Any pets? COREY: No, not now. Just me and mom. 16 MAG: Did you ever get your license to drive? COREY: I have my permit, but I haven't gotten around to getting a license yet. So I have to drive with an adult in the car at all times. 16 MAG: So you have a car? COREY: Right on. It's a BMW, M-3 racing series, it's got a fin on the back, it's really quick! 16 MAG: You're 17 now, Corey, how tall are you? COREY: Yeah, had my birthday back in December. I'm about 5'7", 125-130 lbs. or so. 16 MAG: What kind of music are you into these days? COREY: Bobby Brown, man, I really get into him. And I'm still into Robby Robertson, INXS too. 16 MAG: What kind of clothes are hot in Hollywood right now? COREY: Well, I'm into parachute clothes, they're real cool, they're dark, like black or grey, the pants are baggy, they're real comfortable. 16 MAG: Congratulations on DREAM A LITTLE DREAM -- you're really good in it! COREY: Thanks. I had a great time on that movie. 16 MAG: You played Dinger -- Did you like him? COREY: Dinger was the ultimate role. He was funny, obnoxious sometimes, goofy and cool. I love being funny. 16 MAG: Is he like you in real life? COREY: Well, I think I can be funny, but these days, I'm shyer, more of a homebody. 16 MAG: Tell us some secrets about DREAM A LITTLE DREAM. COREY: Let's see, well I adlibbed a lot of my own lines. There's a whole scene I made up my own dialog, the one where Joel (the character played by Billy McNamara) goes into the house to get something to drink. So I'm standing out there and there weren't any lines written for me. So I just started adlibbing, saying stuff like, "What am I doing here? I'm a good looking guy, girls love me..." that kind of stuff. It was great! 16 MAG: Any other ideas you brought to the movie? COREY: Well, it was my idea to have red hair in it! 16 MAG: You decided to have red hair for this movie? COREY: Yeah, I just wanted to be different, to look different, so I said, hey, gimme red hair. And they did! 16 MAG: What about your other movie, WATCHERS? COREY: Would you mind if I didn't talk about that one? 16 MAG: You don't like it? COREY: Not really. And I'd rather not talk about it, okay? 16 MAG: Sure, no problem. What's the status of you and LaLa? COREY: Rather not discuss that either. 16 MAG: Just to clear up some rumors, Corey, is it true you two are splits, that she's dated Adam Horovitz of The Beastie Boys? COREY: Read into it anything you want, I really don't know! 16 MAG: Well, there's one thing we do know Corey, your fans are behind you all the way. Always have been and always will be. You're a great actor and a great kid... and if you ever want to talk, 16 is right here for you. COREY: Thanks a lot, guys, I appreciate it! |
